2022 Kin Grenache Magnum

2022 Kin Grenache Magnum

What a fantastic year for Grenache! This bolts out of the glass with lifted fresh and dried flower aromas, as well as red cherry and strawberry. Fruit has a cool, savoury, almost mineral aspect and the chalky tannins are perfectly enmeshed in the wine.

Vineyard Notes
Fruit came from blocks 18 and 22, both planted in 2016. Block 18, picked on 21 & 25 March, is on a schist base with more clay. Block 22 was picked on 21 March and has quartzite and limestone seams. It is elevated and planted to bush vines along the hill’s contours. NASAA certified organic and biodynamic.

"NASAA certified organic and biodynamic grenache from blocks 18 and 22 on the Alkina Greenock estate, 100% whole bunches, basket pressed into concrete and a small portion into stainless steel for 6 months. Vibrant, perfumed and just a joy to drink with pretty red cherry and plum fruits bound with ginger spice, purple florals, red licorice and earth. Light and airy with chewy tannin grip, bright acidity and a savoury swish on the exit."

"Medium full red with a good tint of purple and a most attractive bouquet of smoked spices, raspberry/black cherry, and a char/earthy/ironstone background. The wine is medium bodied and very approachable young yet has enough grip and structure to take some age, and to accompany quite hearty foods. Delicious wine, with a sweet-fruit core and a lovely balance between intensity and lightness of being. Grenache charm writ large. It rings my bells and is great value."
