Tasting Notes
A fascinating, complex wine with an Autumnal feel to it. Aromas of stone fruit, Calvados, pear, preserved lemon and flint. Juicy with ripe stone fruit on the palate, while at the same time pithy, lightly grippy and dry. Our first experience with Semillon Gris and we love it.
Vineyard Notes
2016 plantings near Greenock Creek. Curiously the block was planted with Semillon cuttings but evolved to Semillon, Semillon Gris (red skinned) and some odd Shiraz vines. A happy accident! NASAA certified organic and biodynamic.

 

“Red semillon here. And lo and behold, my pal Daimon Downey did the label and a bit of poetry on the label. Golden colour. Has this peachy scent and flavour, tart and fine, a lick of saline minerality, some light toasty notes, high toned lemony acidity washing over everything. Textural, fresh, fine boned but not without structure and some drive. Serious feeling white wine an done destined for betterment in cellar too. Like this.”
