Tasting Notes
The season has given us pretty, floral Semillon with purity at its core. A high-toned wine with lemon, jasmine, lemongrass and hints of stone fruit, it is marked by succulent acidity and a light, textural grip on the palate.
Vineyard Notes
This year fruit comes from two younger blocks of Semillon: Block 27B and the white fruit from Block 27 (the Pink Semillon block). NASAA certified organic and biodynamic. Even though 2023 will generally go down as a cool, wet and challenging year, we’re delighted with the results. Freshness and purity are hallmarks of the vintage. Our healthy organic vineyard showed its resilience against mildew and other dangers and the late start to the season meant flavour and sugar ripeness dovetailed nicely. Most of our fruit came in over an intense 11 day period in late March before the weather turned cold and wet again.

Light straw yellow colour. Kiwi-fruit and cumin spice aromatics. Light to medium in weight with kiwi and lime fruits at the core. A touch of exotic spice adds character to the line and it the whole palate runs very long and stays bone dry to the end.

91 Points, Stuart Knox, The Real Review

The 2023 Kin Old Vine Semillon is skinsy and chalky on the nose, with Campari, blood orange, white flowers, crushed rocks and green apple skins. Gently bitter and equally textural, this won't be for everyone, but I really enjoy it; there's a nice balance present and it's salty and tangy.
