2025 Estate Grenache

Our second release of the Estate Grenache again explores the wealth of different blocks and polygons that we have in the vineyard. This is our ‘village’ level Grenache, to borrow a famous classification system from Burgundy. Darker colour and fruit spectrum confirm the dry, low-yielding nature of the season, but the strawberry, plum and pomegranate characters are cool-fruited in nature, with complexity coming from amaro and fresh green herb notes. The schist tannin floods the front of the palate as a young wine, and combined with beautiful natural acidity, brings great energy to the wine.

Tasting Notes

Marking our 10 year milestone in the vineyard, this new Estate trio draws upon 70 year old blocks in which fruit quality has increased significantly thanks to increased experience and viticultural focus. The Estate Grenache has beautiful shape, with tightly wound tannin around a core of red fruit, spice and dried flowers. There’s a mineral edge to the flavours, buoyed by bright natural acidity and a real sense of tension and energy.

Vineyard Notes

This new cuvee draws on excellent old vine fruit from Old Quarter Blocks 7 (48%) and 10 (26%), as well as Polygon No. 5 (6%), with the remaining coming from the young Block 18 (20%). There is more clay underlying Blocks 7 and 10 in this part of the Old Quarter, with some of Block 7 on limestone. Southern Cross Certified organic and biodynamic.
